Our life with Ford Motor Company -Lincoln Mercury

                     and Findlay Lincoln Mercury

My 2011 Lincoln MKX has a knock in the engine when you first start it up when cold. It's loud and annoying. The knocking last for 6 to 8 minutes until the motor and oil is warm.

 

I brought my MKX into Findlay Lincoln Mercury for concerns about the motor. The service manager stated that Ford put out a bulletin saying "They are aware of the knock" and that there Engineering Department is working on a solution. This was 2 months ago.

I brought it back to Findlay Lincoln Mercury again for concerns and the

 

Service Manager "Claude Chiles Jr" said to me point blank.

"Do not bring this back again" . I told you Ford is working on a solution.

 

This guy is the worst Service Manager I have ever met. He has never once followed through with anything he told me. He has never sent me any documents that I asked for. He never even verifed if the problem was fixed or not the next morning when a cold start was required to verify the modification.  The Engineer said the problem was resolved and he said ok. The original problem was engine knock when started cold.  If i was an Service Manager and had an irate customer and several complaints lodged. I think I would have verified the problem was fixed myself before calling the customer. but hey thats just me.

 

I told him, here is my solution. Replace my car. I paid 60 Thousand dollars for a new Lincoln MKX and do not feel I should have to drive it around with a knocking Motor.

 

We called Ford Customer Service, We also wrote to them. We got calls saying they were sorry because Ford was looking into the problem. They would get back to us when a solution was reached. This has been going on for four months now. 

 

Ford says "just keep" making payments on your new Lincoln and someday Ford will have

a solution for this problem.  Please do not hesitate to call if you have any others problems we cannot fix for you.

 

Ford Motor Credit says, if you stop making payments we will repo your car and sue you for the balance after our sale of the vehicle.  How nice of them to be so concerned with a customer.
